This past weekend, Jonathan Friedman & Jeanine Sinanan-Singh from Trinity Prep (FL) defeated Parsa Salehi & Danielle Taylor from Ridge High School (NJ) on a 3-2 decision to win the Public Forum Debate division at the 2008 National Catholic Forensic League Grand National Tournament.

Justin D’Souza & Caleb Copley from Dowling Catholic (CON) defeated Billy Strong & Lillian Chesser from Des Moines Roosevelt (PRO) on a 2-1 decision to win the Iowa High School Forensics League state tournament.

Alex Loomis & Alexander Stubbs from Lincoln-Sudbury (MA) defeated Robbie Abdo & Eddie DiBenedetto from Regis (NY) to win the Public Forum Debate division at the 34th Annual Harvard National Invitational Forensics Tournment.

109 teams from 60 schools competed in the Public Forum Debate division at the Barkley Forum at Emory University. In the final round, Jose Bengochea & Charles Barr from Ransom Everglades (FL) defeated Brian O’Reilly & Ben Buchanan from Regis (NY) on a 5-0 decision.

Last weekend 73 teams participated in the the open division at The Crestian tournament. Teams with a 4-2 or better record advanced. In total, 22 teams advanced. The elimination rounds began with partial double octafinals. The tournament should be a TOC qualifier.

- Bloch & Grossman Claim ASU Southwest Championship
Adam Bloch & Ben Grossman from Chaparral HS (AZ) defeated Johnny Amiri and Connor Fitzpatrick from Foothill HS (NV) to win the ASU Southwest Championship this past weekend. The open division consisted of 73 teams.
Amiri & Fitzpatrick are now unofficially full-qualified for the Tournament of Champions.
