This past weekend, the California High School Speech Association State Tournament was held on the campus of Santa Clara University.
In the final round, Austin Ashford & Lisa Nguyen from James Logan defeated Pathipati & Pathipati from Mira Loma to win the California Public Forum Debate Championship.

- North Carolina Crowns State Champions
Andrew Copland & Mikey Rooney from Cary Academy defeated Robert Kindman & Josh Zoffner from Durham Academy on a 3-0 decision to win the Public Forum Debate division at the 2008 Tarheel Forensic League State Championship Tournament. Cary Academy is coached by RJ Pellicciotta and Carole Hamilton. Durham is coached by Jeff Welty.

The Missouri State High School Activities Association State Speech, Debate, and Drama Championships were held this weekend in Columbia, Missouri.
Max Mikitish & Susan Taylor from Liberty High School defeated Dan Schultz & Lindsey Zhang from Springfield Central on a 3-0 decision to win the Public Forum Debate championship.
