Why do all the topics SUCK?

Ducks November 1, 2009 at 6:14 pm

Snarf, care to give a reason?

This topic is topical (sorry about the redundancy there), interesting, has ample ground on both sides, and should make for heated debate.

I guess if you go into it assuming all topics suck and capitalize the words you care a lot about, they end up sucking.

How is a topic “topical?”

I think it’s a pretty good topic.

Sunshine November 1, 2009 at 8:52 pm

No, this topic sucks because it’s March 2009 NCLB under a magnifying glass, if you know what I mean.

Eagle November 1, 2009 at 9:14 pm

I guess NCLB last year wasn’t enough for the selection committee… on the bright side evidence and argument recycling always make research easier, but wait isn’t that less educational than giving out new topics, but wait isn’t education the purpose of debate, but wait isn’t this topic about education…. good job selection committee.

This topic is horrible. Excluding the fact that the topic is even more narrow than the bad NCLB topic, with all of the BETTER topics that could have been created based on contemporary situations within this country and the world, this is probably the worst concievable situation. Once again we have to potentially prepare for an irrelevant topic.

Thanks

This is an actual debate occurring in different levels of government right now. Although we aren’t debating the December topic because of finals, I think it is interesting. I would have liked it to include some of the larger discussions like tenure removal based on student performance but it is still nice to see a topic with clear ground, unlike false dichotomy resolutions.

this topic and all the other topics are pointless there is no point in arguing them when there are more time relevant topics

This topic is dumb. It does not matter what teachers are payed, they teach cuz its a duty. not a priveledge. They should just submit to whatever payment we give them

I hate this topic

LeAnn November 16, 2009 at 2:55 pm

you guys should leave some more insight on here so I can gain some more ground on this topic! I don’t even know what it means! help!

The topic isn’t “topical”,it’s tropical!

Ugg November 20, 2009 at 2:21 pm

Um.. this topic isn’t to bad. I personally don’t want to debate it but on a good note, both the pro and neg sides have plentiful arguments. Pro: Students would potentially learn more. Con: Corrupts teachers and possibly grades. All in all PF is getting old. if you want better topics, go into student Congress. Students send in their own topics, and usually they are pretty good. I am still in PF though, so if you want to practice debate online, or just pass information and resources, please e-mail me. vegaslaxr@aol.com P.S. please pass info ;)
