Expect the October 2009 Public Forum Debate topic to be about poverty because of the NFL’s affiliation with the International Public Policy Forum. According to the NFL:
Both this year’s Policy Debate and the October Public Forum topics make it easy for debaters familiar with both formats to enter the contest.
Policy Debate Topic
Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase social services for persons living in poverty in the United States.
IPPF Topic
Resolved: The United Nations should substantially increase humanitarian assistance for persons living in poverty.

Took you guys a while to notice this !
We should have Universal Healthcare sometime this year, should be fun.
I didn’t check the NFL’s topic announcement page too many times during the summer.
No Someone. We don’t want universal healthcare. We had it last yr. Plus its such a hot topic that judge bias will ruin PF that month more than its usually ruined (which is a lot).
If we have universal healthcare again, I will be mad.
Poverty, isn’t too bad I guess.
Universal health care wasn’t too bad, but I would defiantly be angry we got that again. Poverty isn’t great but it isn’t horrible either. I think it could be interesting.
Agreed. I like topics that are relevant in today’s political landscape yet still not on the news every single day.
Personally, I think relinquishing dependence on foreign is just currently obscure enough to be a viable topic. I believe it was a topic 3 year’s ago?
