WOO! I can actually clearly see Pro and Con on this one!
Thanks for an easier one!
Hmm.. I don’t know if I like it yet, but it’s going to be a decent debate. Better than Dec and Jan at least.
AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND TOPIC COMMITTEE??? You guys are NOT aware that some places in this country have been WAYYYY more deeply affected by this than where you come from. My district will undoubtedly be SOOOOO far towards the con that I doubt a pro team has a chance of even winning one round…AT THE DISTRICT TOURNAMENT…
Buts that okay we prolly won’t even use this topic at districts
With “lay” judges this debate could be a little bit difficult.
Not bad, not great. This topic offers a chance to make a detailed analysis of our education system.
IMHO, this is the best topic since November.
I sort of laughed when I saw this topic…XD Pro is a little on the screwed side, in my opinion. But a nice change on that account…Con finally has a chance
Sweet topic. I’m loving this one.
It may just be me being overly nit-picky, but the first thing I noticed about this topic was that there is a comma after “on balance.” But in February there was a comma before and after “on balance.” Uniformity, topic committee!
On the topic itself, I’m happy. It’s definitely a good topic for district/state competitions.
If your district tournament is in March, you MUST use this resolution. If your district committee does not, then no one qualifies in PFD for your district.
I’m happy, better than February…
Wow, this isn’t biased AT ALL. Pro is definitely screwed in my district. Actually when debating the February topic, pro offered a couple of mandates as examples including NCLB, and Con (From my team) responded, “wouldn’t you agree that NCLB has failed?” Pro flat out said, “yes” and conceded the point. That’s how much we hate it here.
As someone who has very strong opinions about this topic, I immeadiately saw awesome opportunities for both sides. Fabulous wording on the subject area
I am excited that this is the topic Harker will be using at our invitational tournament as well as state and NFL quals! Good luck everyone!
This topic is horrid.
Easier to debate? Sure. Better than BRIC? No. Bitchy on Pro? Yea.
IMHO, this is the best topic since November.
That’s not saying much.
I like BRIC kind of.
Okay, I’m sick of everyone always complaining about the topic. If you hate the topics so much, drop out of PF. This topic is the best one we’ve had all year. And the thing is, for all you who think your district is screwed, your not talking about just your district because the resolution clearly states ON BALANCE! Which means, overall, therefore you have to take all the states into consideration. So stop complaining and get to work. And I look forward to competing against some of you.

Yeah, Ashley deffenitly has the right idea. While the pro may have a little bit of a disadvantage, the wording does say “on balance” so you can say “yes, nclb has had it’s mistakes and may have not worked as planned, but you need to see the numerous positive effects that this act has made.” Overall I see con winning most rounds but only over pro teams who aren’t well read or confident on their side.

the resolution kinda seems like it’s a yes or no question with little to no debate in between.
I noticed they said “United States” in the resolution. Why not just “U.S.”? Could they be referring only to the contiguous United States? What about Alaska and Hawaii? Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, etc.? What do you guys think?
I think we’ll be fine as long as we Spread the Flow properly.
The chaff to wheat ratio is pretty high on this debate.
