A dust-up on the NDT-CEDA listserv started last week after a video was posted on YouTube that showed Fort Hays State University debate coach Bill Shanahan mooning Shanara Reid during the argument that occurred after a quarterfinal match at CEDA Nationals in March between Fort Hays State (KS) and the eventual champions from Towson State (MD).
Fort Hays State is investigating the incident which has made the TV news in Kansas and has landed on the front page of CNN’s website.
The setup is in the NDT-CEDA listserv archives. The video is on YouTube.
Warning, there is objectionable language in the YouTube video.
Update: The story has hit the higher education sources.

I find the listserv thread even more morbidly fascinating than the YouTube video. Here we have a bunch of faculty members, who one would hope are at least minimally intelligent, who seem perfectly comfortable with the idea that physical violence should play a role in a policy debate.
It is to weep.
Haha. I can’t tell you how excited I am to see the absolutely ridiculous behavior that the Policy community allows finally brought to public accountability. The only thing to guard against here is that the public needs to know this isn’t the only form of debate.
