Economic Stimulus Payment Notice

I received my Economic Stimulus Payment Notice in the mail today after I finished the April issue of Crossfire Briefs. It seemed kind of weird.

where can I find the application for economic stimulus payment notice

PFDebate LLC @ 9:30 am

A copy of the Economic Stimulus payment notice is here:
http://apps.irs.gov/pub/irs-utl/economic_stimulus_payment_notice.pdf

There is no application. You must file a 2007 Federal tax return. The U.S. Treasury will send out payments based on the 2007 tax return.

i had my money sent to my bank for my taxes and i just moved so will my payment be sent to my bank liek my taxes or will a check be sent to my old address? would anyone know

PFDebate LLC @ 7:54 pm

If you received your tax refund by direct deposit, your rebate from the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 will also be sent by direct deposit.

Quick question if i already received the 2007 tax refund do i have to go to the office again. I did received a Economic Stimulus Payment Notice.

April 13, 2008

PFDebate LLC @ 7:03 am

All you need to do is file your 2007 tax return. Based on the 2007 return, the IRS will distribute the Economic Stimulus payments.

Everyone who filed a 2006 tax return received an Economic Stimulus Payment Notice. However, your eligibility is based on your 2007 return and will be automatically determined by the IRS.

i was able to claim my son who turned 19 in 2007 because he was in school, even though he also worked and payed taxes, more than 3000. in income…it looks like he wont qualify for rebate on his own and i wont get any thing because he was over 17..what about these people? He could really use it,he is now on his own, paying high prices like the rest of us.any answers???

PFDebate LLC @ 6:31 pm

If you claimed him as a dependent on your 2007 return, he is not eligible for the tax rebate.

You are correct that since he turned 17 by December 31, 2007, you will not receive the $300 credit for him.

Fair or not, that is how the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 works.

If I have direct deposit. I owed student loan some money but they did not put claim in with my income taxes. I rcvd those in 3 days, can they claim the Stimulus check?

PFDebate LLC @ 1:18 pm

From http://tinyurl.com/6ak5tq:

Rebates are subject to the same offset procedures of tax returns. If a taxpayer owes back taxes, has defaulted on a student loan, or owes past child support, their tax rebate will be applied to the outstanding debt. Taxpayers who choose to file an extension can expect to face a delay in receiving their rebates. Rebate checks will not be issued after December 31.

How does having my rebate applied to a prepaid visa worK?
How long will it take to receive the card?

PFDebate LLC @ 7:11 am

You will receive your economic stimulus rebate in the same form that you received your 2007 tax refund: direct deposit or check.

The only information I can find that ties a prepaid Visa to the rebate is that Wal-Mart is cashing rebate checks for free and waiving their fees on prepaid Visa cards if you put any amount of the rebate on the card.

Kim @ 9:27 pm

Hi.
My state tax refund, and my stimulus payment are supposed to be deposited close to the same time in my account. How will i know which is which? I got a deposit today that said “tax refund” so i am wondering if this is my tax refund or my stimulus payment. Anyone know?

May 11, 2008

Bethanny @ 9:09 pm

I received a letter stating that we were eligible for an Economic Stimulus payment of $1200. We filed our taxes for 2007, and had direct deposit for our refund for that. According to the payment schedule, we were suppose to receive the payment by May 9, and we haven’t seen it yet. I called the IRS number on the website to find out when to expect our payment, and it said that they don’t have any information on our SS #. Who do I contact to find out what happened? We are really counting on that money to pay some bills, etc…

PFDebate LLC @ 9:28 pm

My rebate was received on the 9th as scheduled.

* The schedule only applies if your taxes were filed and the government processed the tax forms before April 15.

* If you owe back taxes, default on a student loan, past child support, etc. it will be taken from the rebate.

* The notifications did not indicate the amount of money you would receive. It was a generic notification to everyone who filed a return in 2006.

If you filed earlier than April 15 and there is no reason for the IRS to withhold funds, check your account again on Monday.

The IRS has an FAQ about the rebate. Here is the link to the When & How section:

ang @ 12:44 pm

I think you will receive the stimulus my husband is a carpet installer and we have already received a letter to expect ours by the 16 of May and he is self employed. Go to the irs website and fill out the form it should tell you. Hope this helps

if i 0% tax liability ,but 13000 from social sec. i should get a check for 300. am i right or wrong thanks

May 16, 2008

Fulani @ 11:57 am

I was supposed to get mine on the 9th of May. That did not take place. I paid for my taxes by a independant preparer. I noticed something about if filing fees and taxes owed were taken out of a refund then anticipate a check. Would there be additional fees that would be paid to the IRS (filing) fees that were not included in the fees I paid my preparer. I am really trying to determine if I should anticipate a paper check.

theresa @ 8:48 pm

i got my tax refund in february according to the schedule i should have had my stimulus check direct deposited may 16 and it wasnt and i didnt get a notice saying it was being sent a week in advance like most people i know

May 18, 2008

fran @ 6:04 am

I had my daughter on dec 13 2007 will she be included on my stimulus check or just children born before the 1st of dec.

PFDebate LLC @ 7:02 am

@fran: It is based on your 2007 tax return. If you were able to count her as a dependent on your 2007 return, then the IRS will include her for the stimulus rebate.

@theresa: Did you file your 2007 tax return electronically? Did you use a tax preparation service with a rapid refund option? Do you owe back taxes, child support, etc? All of those things will effect if and when you receive your stimulus check. I did not receive my notification of payment until a day or two after it was directly deposited in my account.

@bmwbobz: I am not a tax expert, but I believe that is correct. You had to have over $3000 in income and file a return. This was a big deal because it means that seniors, for example, can receive a stimulus check. The trick is that you must file a 2007 return to receive the stimulus rebate.

May 19, 2008

carlH @ 9:04 am

I had my taxes done at H&R Block and I owed taxes. I paid the amount owed while I was there. So when would I get my stimulus check? My last digit of social is 47 which I should have gotten my stimulus check by now. They asked how we wanted it also given to us and we said direct deposit while we was there filing. What and when do we expect to see it? Does anyone have any information on this for me?

Thank You!

Amanda @ 5:22 pm

I received my tax refund back but have yet to receive my stimulus check. I am worried because I never received a notice stating I would be receiving a stimulus payment. Has anyone else not received a notice even though they have received their refund?

May 22, 2008

Texas FAmily @ 8:32 am

We were supposed to get our Stimulus Payment last week, Social ending in 06, it was supposed to be mailed May 16.
Has anyone received there May 16 paper check ontime? How long did it take to get your check if you were in the 00-09 May 16 payment?

May 23, 2008

linda day @ 12:05 pm

We have not received any kind of letter telling us when or how much we should receive. OUr payment isn’t due until June 6ht but I thought that everyon got a letter telling them they were eligible.

May 24, 2008

lala201 @ 12:41 pm

If I recieved the notice stating that i should recieve my payment as of may 23, 2008, should i expect to recieve it that day or wouold it be sent out on may 23?

May 27, 2008

Bennett @ 9:33 am

I received a letter from the government that I was eligible for an economic stimulus check. However, I still not have received it with my last two digits being one of the first ones. I had already received my tax return as a direct deposit despite I filed by paper. If I was claimed by my parents because I am a college student but the government said I was getting a stimulus check, where does that put me? Do I receive one or does it put me in no mans land and left without a check? I would like to get one but I would like to know when to stop hoping over this matter as well.

PFDebate LLC @ 9:45 am

@Bennett: Everyone who filed a 2006 tax return received the letter saying you may be eligible.

If your parents claimed you as a dependent on their 2007 tax return, you will not receive an economic stimulus check.

Abandon all hope.

Rouse @ 11:23 am

I think that because of high gas prices as well as groceries we are all in a hurry to recieve these checks.
Honestly we can not rush the IRS, lets wait and appreciate what we get.

May 28, 2008

ash123 @ 12:18 pm

I got a letter in the mail stating that I should expect my stimulus payment by May 30th, does this mean it will be mailed out on the 30th or does it mean that I should actually have it by then?

May 29, 2008

Melissa @ 6:23 am

My refund on the economic stimulus package was based on my original tax return. My original tax return was wrong because I entered one digit wrong on my daughters social security number. The IRS fixed the SS# and I will get my full regular refund but my stimulus package was reduced by $300 because it was based on my original NOT corrected return. The IRS says I cant do anything about it. Do you know anything about this situation.

Chris Prince @ 8:07 am

I never recieved a stimulus payment, yet people whose social is about 10 digits after mine have already recieved it. On the website its says I should have it by Friday, 23rd. I just want to know if I am recieving one or not. Thats all. I know its free money, but its retarded to tell people when to expect it and for them to never recieve it. Is their anyone I can call to check? I just want to know if I am getting it or not???????

PFDebate LLC @ 9:04 am

@ash123. The chart tells you what day the payment was sent.

@Melissa. I am certain that you cannot correct the situation until you file your 2008 tax return. See:

http://wealthyreader.com/articles/stimulus-payment-some-will-get-second-chance-to-qualify/

@Chris Prince. The chart tells you when the payment was sent. The IRS has set-up a Where’s My Stimulus website so that you can track your payment. Make certain to read the first page before proceeding to the form.

Beatriz @ 2:50 pm

What if I never received a letter about the Stimulus Payment! DOes this mean I will not be receiving a rebate!

PFDebate LLC @ 3:35 pm

You only received the letter about the stimulus if you filed a 2006 tax return. The letter has nothing to with eligibility. You have to file a 2007 tax return to be eligible to receive the stimulus.

Nicole @ 6:13 pm

I did not file 06 taxes, and I owe for 07, but, I was sent a letter last week saying that my $600 dollars will be sent on the 30th. Is this a mistake??

I see the “generic” letter you are talking about, but like I said,, I did not file 06 and this letter was dated 5/27.

PFDebate LLC @ 9:12 pm

There are two letters. The generic notice and the notification that payment will be/has been sent.

Whether or not you owed taxes in 2007 has nothing to do with receiving the stimulus payment.

Nicole, you should be receiving $600 soon.

Justin @ 10:25 am

Im frustrated. I filed my taxes electronically on irs.com. My income & state taxes were direct deposited into my account in February. According to the irs schedule my check should have been direct deposited on May 9th. When I go to irs.gov and track the rebate it says there is no information for me. So a check has not been sent to me. What is that about? why not? Who can I call, there must be something wrong?

PFDebate LLC @ 11:19 am

@Justin: Are you certain that you are eligible for a stimulus payment?

You won’t get a stimulus payment in 2008, if any of the following apply to you:

* You don’t file a 2007 tax return.

* Your net income tax liability is zero and your qualifying income is less than $3,000. To determine your qualifying income, add together your wages, net self-employment income, nontaxable combat pay, Social Security benefits, certain Railroad Retirement benefits and certain veterans’ payments.

* You can be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return (whether or not you actually are claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return). For example, this would include a child or student who can be claimed on a parent’s return. [Updated 4/15/08]

* You do not have a valid Social Security Number.

* You are a nonresident alien.

* You file Form 1040NR or Form 1040NR-EZ, Form 1040PR or Form 1040SS for 2007.

The complete FAQ is here:
http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=179181,00.html

You can contact your local IRS office, but I’m not sure that will be very helpful.

Mayra @ 1:06 pm

I received a notice explaining the amount of my stimulus check, and it states I should receive payment BY june 6th. On the irs website it states that my check will be mailed ON the 6th. I want to know if I should expect my check in the mail by Friday, or the following Monday???

PFDebate LLC @ 1:19 pm

@Mayra: It is impossible to give you a definite answer. The checks for the “mail by June 6″ group are going out daily. It also depends on the speed of the mail service where you live.

I won’t be surprised if you receive it by the 6th. I also won’t be surprised if it is the middle of next week.

My funds were deposited electronically and hit my account several days before the notification of payment arrived.
