Most of you are probably not aware that I work in a library. Back in the day, you had to go to a library to do debate research. In fact, my interest in libraries is a direct result of my debate experience.
Most news about libraries and librarians is boring, but I stumbled across some interesting items this week.
- A Hipper Crowd of Shushers. Hmm. Hipness is relative.
- If Public Libraries Didn’t Exist, Could You Start One Today? I doubt it.
- How Wearing Underwear Led to Increased Medieval Literacy. I don’t know if this is true.
- Librarians Suffer The Most Stress. Really?
- Pimp My Bookcart. Librarians need an outlet for all that stress.
- Meadville Mishap Defines Wrecking Ball. A Ford Taurus, soccer balls, a library, and a wrecking ball. This could have been me.
- New Gilbert Library Drops Dewey Decimal System. Libraries are becoming more and more like bookstores.
- National Librarian Sport Declared. Fantasy sports.
