in response to cosmin: i know what you mean. judges need to get with the program. “rescind the dress code,” “negatively influence,” “end early admissions” its happens a lot in pofo.
and another thing. i hate how they say that pofo was designed to appeal to lay judges. i dont care! they should at least know the rules! the other day our judge wrote in our ballot that she voted for the other team because she didnt agree with our points. i dont care if you dont agree! we argued our points better! ugh. and then last year one of my judges asked in the ballot why i wasnt being agressive enough when my opponent was shouting his head off at me. um, probably because youre not supposed to do that in pofo? i mean, i can take losing pretty well, but not for these reasons that judges have given me. anyways, im done. i needed to rant somewhere.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I had a judge at ASU’s TOE, who are supposed to be qualified judges, tell me that he voted for the neg because they proved that lobbying was a positive practice while the aff focused too much on lobbyists themselves commiting negative actions. We continually said that lobbying was good in theory, but that lobbyists are on the offensive and thus are a negative influence (too much corruption). So, we didn’t win because of a stupid judge.

wtf mate?
As Ludacris would says, “Shake your money maker,” if a slot machine floats your five-pack-a-day habit, well then…. go for it.
Greatest topic ever. That simple.
anyone got some good arguments for the aff?
This topic — Weird. All I can say.
Odd topic.
wow.
I noticed this topic is alot like that last. Then Neg is for it and the Aff is against. it drove me crazy and even confused my judges
i love to gamble… its that simple. therefore i love this topic.
